The Best Designer Sunglasses of 2026

The Best Designer Sunglasses of 2026

Updated October 2026. Square frames have returned as the default shape in designer eyewear, replacing the oversized rounds of the last few years, and this list exists to sort the dozens of square styles we stock into a shortlist worth trying. What changed in 2026 is the move toward slimmer profiles and metal: thick acetate still sells, but the fastest-growing styles are lighter frames with a thinner front and a lens tint chosen for the way it looks rather than how dark it is.

We ranked on best-sellers over the last 90 days, return rates (which in eyewear are almost always about fit), and how many face shapes and outfits each frame flatters. Every pair is priced below retail and made to the same specification as the boutique version, with UV400 lenses, free worldwide tracked shipping and 30-day returns so you can try them against your own face.

1. Slim Metal Square Sunglasses, Slate Grey

Slim Metal Square Sunglasses, Slate Grey at Sorenzia

Narrow metal squares like this suit oval and heart-shaped faces, where a heavier acetate frame can overwhelm the lower half. The slate grey finish is quieter than gold and the thin front means the frame almost disappears on the face. Grey lenses keep colours true and the lens is UV400. Metal frames rely on nose pads for fit, so expect to adjust them once to sit level.

2. Bold Acetate Square Sunglasses, Black

Bold Acetate Square Sunglasses, Black at Sorenzia

Round and softer faces benefit from a sharp-cornered frame like this one, which adds definition to the jawline. The thick black acetate is a weightier wear than metal but it is the shape most people picture when they think of a square frame. Dark grey lenses with UV400 protection suit bright Australian light. A snug fit at the temples is normal with acetate; it will loosen slightly with wear.

3. Acetate Square Sunglasses, Havana

Acetate Square Sunglasses, Havana at Sorenzia

Havana tortoiseshell is the most versatile finish we sell because it reads as warm rather than severe, and it works with every hair colour. The square front is medium in width, so it fits most faces without looking oversized, and the sculpted temples give the frame its character from the side. Brown-toned lenses (UV400) add contrast on overcast days. This is also the most affordable frame on the list.

4. Polarised Acetate Square Sunglasses with Crystal Trim, Black

Polarised Acetate Square Sunglasses with Crystal Trim, Black at Sorenzia

The only polarised frame in this group, which makes it the pick for driving and for anyone who spends time near water. Polarised lenses cut reflected glare that a standard tint only dims. The crystal detail along the temples is subtle enough for daily wear. Polarised lenses can make some phone and dashboard screens look dark at certain angles, which is worth knowing before you buy.

5. Oversized Acetate Square Sunglasses, Black

Oversized Acetate Square Sunglasses, Black at Sorenzia

Larger faces and anyone who wants coverage rather than a delicate look should go for this oversized square. The wide front shields the sides of the eyes, and the thick black acetate frame is the most robust construction here. Grey UV400 lenses. On smaller faces the frame will sit on the cheeks, so check the width against a pair you already own before ordering.

6. Slim Acetate Square Sunglasses, Black

Thinner acetate gives you the clean square line without the weight, and this frame is the one we recommend to customers who find chunky styles tiring by the afternoon. It suits oval and square faces and sits well under a cap brim. Dark lenses with UV400 protection. Being slim, the frame has less grip at the temples than a thick acetate style, so it can slide on a very narrow head.

7. Recycled Acetate Square Sunglasses, Havana Green

Recycled Acetate Square Sunglasses, Havana Green at Sorenzia

Made from recycled acetate, this frame pairs a green-flecked havana front with brown lenses, which is a more unusual combination than it sounds and photographs well. It suits medium and wider faces. The brown UV400 lenses warm up the view and lift greens and reds. Recycled acetate has a slightly matte feel compared with the polished finish of standard frames; some customers prefer it, others want the gloss.

8. Metal Square Sunglasses, Gold with Green Lenses

Metal Square Sunglasses, Gold with Green Lenses at Sorenzia

Green lenses in a gold metal frame are a classic combination that flatters warm skin tones and brown eyes especially well. The frame is light and the square lens shape is softened at the corners, so it suits faces that are between round and oval. UV400 lenses. Gold-tone metal shows fingerprints more than acetate and benefits from a wipe with the supplied cloth before you head out.

How we chose

We began with the square-frame styles sold through Sorenzia from July to September 2026 and ordered them by units. Return rate was the second filter, since in eyewear almost every return is a fit issue, and we have noted frame width in each entry for that reason. Finally we favoured frames that work across more than one face shape and in more than one colour of outfit. Every lens we stock is UV400; polarisation is noted where it applies. Prices are in AUD and below boutique retail.

Matching a square frame to your face

Square frames add structure, which is why they flatter round and oval faces most readily; if your face is already square or angular, choose a slimmer front or one with softened corners. Acetate is thicker, warmer in colour and holds a stronger shape; metal is lighter, slimmer and relies on adjustable nose pads for fit. On lens tint, grey keeps colours accurate, brown adds contrast on dull days, and green sits between the two. UV400 means the lens blocks ultraviolet light up to 400 nanometres, which is the standard you should expect on every pair. Measure the total width of a frame you already like and compare it with the listing before you buy.
